Henry Cavill is adding yet another big action property to his resume.
The former Superman and The Witcher actor is joining Amazon's upcoming live-action Voltron movie, according to an article in The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday. He joins Daniel Quinn-Toye, a newcomer to the scene who reportedly impressed the filmmakers with his work as an understudy to Tom Holland in this past spring's West End production of Romeo & Juliet.
As previously announced, Rawson Marshall Thurber, known for writing and directing Netflix's Red Notice and the Dwayne Johnson-starring Skyscraper, is set to take the helm from a script he wrote with Ellen Shanman.
Plot details, including ones about Cavill's role, are currently being kept under wraps. The original animated series followed a group of space explorers whose vehicles, when combined, form the super robot known as Voltron. While the original '80s anime (adapted from the Japanese series Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV) inspired a number of animated continuations and a 2016 Netflix reboot, this is the first time we'll see a live-action take on Voltron.
It's also the latest big role for Cavill, who continues to stay busy even after bidding farewell to Netflix's The Witcher. He appeared in two action action movies this year — Argyle and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare — and is also gearing up to star in a Highlander reboot from John Wick’s Chad Stahelski, due out in 2026. Cavill, of course, rose to prominence for playing Superman in Zack Snyder's DCEU films and also starred in Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
More details about the live-action Voltron film, including a release date, are still unknown. For more in the meantime, check out our breakdown of every live-action anime adaptation in the works.
