It's been nearly 100 years since Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy first teamed up and changed cinema forever. What better way to put the spotlight back on these two comedy legends than with a new line of action figures?
That's what Wandering Planet Toys aims to do, with the company's latest crowdfunding campaign featuring two versions of the Laurel and Hardy figures – one in color and one in period-appropriate black and white. IGN can exclusively reveal the first image of the black and white versions, as well as a new Laurel and Hardy lunchbox set. Check them out in the slideshow gallery below:
These Laurel and Hardy figures are 1:12 scale and 6 inches tall, with a full range of articulation. Both the full-color and black and white versions include display stands, interchangeable hands and facial expression portraits, and those iconic bowler hats.
In addition to the standard full-color and black and white figure sets, Kickstarter backers have the option of backing a "Studio Special" rewards tier, which includes exclusive items like a Lauel and Hardy 100th Anniversary enamel pin and the aforementioned lunchbox.
“As two of the most influential filmmakers in the history of comedy, Laurel and Hardy deserve to be remembered and honored,” said Wandering Planet Toys co-founder Doc Wyatt in a statement. “We at Wandering Planet hope these figures encourage fans to remember and cherish the classic films that inspired them.”
Wandering Planet's previous pop culture action figure releases have included Nancy Drew figures and multiple waves of figures based on the classic TV series The Prisoner.
