Disney brought out Mike Wazowski actor Billy Crystal during the Disney Experiences Showcase at D23 2024 to announce plans to bring Monsters, Inc. Land to Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.
Before breaking into song, Crystal promised a new area that invites humans to visit Monstropolis and enjoy a suspended coaster as well as other Monsters, Inc.-themed offerings. Concept art for Monsters, Inc. Land (below) reveals that the rollercoaster sees riders strap in as they’re whisked away among thousands of doors with humans begging to be scared.

"The first time I saw Monsters, Inc., all I wanted to do was ride on one of those doors like Mike and Sulley," Disney Experiences chairman Josh D'Amaro said at D23. "You’ll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. Remember in the movie how those claws grab the doors and hoist them up into the air to take them away? We’re doing that, too. And you’re going along for the ride."
Monsters, Inc. Land isn't the only addition coming to Disney's Florida parks. Also revealed today are major attractions based on Indiana Jones and Encanto. Both are set to come to its Animal Kingdom branch in 2027, with work prepped to begin this fall. Two Cars attractions are also on the way, though they will be joining Magic Kingdom's list of rides.
Other D23 announcements have seen Disney reveal new Marvel-themed rides for Avengers Campus as well as big plans for the world of Avatar. If you're still looking for more while we wait for Disney's fan event to wrap up with day three, you can see everything announced at the Disney Entertainment Showcase.
